On 9 May, the EBU will launch a second round of training workshops on public service news in Podgorica at the premises of RTCG, the EBU’s Member in Montenegro.
The two-day national workshop, co-funded by the European Union, will build on a curriculum developed and fine-tuned by experts from the Eurovision ACADEMY, trainers, senior editors and managers during a regional seminar held in Zagreb in December 2012. Part of an EBU action plan to strengthen public service media in EU accession countries, the tailor-made training will help journalists and news editors to work in accordance with the standards and values of public service media (PSM) and to analyse what distinguishes PSM from commercial broadcasters.
The national workshops adapted to the needs of each EBU Members in the region will be followed in September by a regional “train the trainers” workshop for promising individuals identified in the national workshops. These national trainers will then roll-out a fully fledged training operation at national level, assisted, when needed, by the Eurovision ACADEMY.
A first round of similar workshops was organized in March and April in Albania, Kosovo and Serbia (in both RTS and RTV).
