Concert du Nouvel An 2017 de l'Orchestre philharmonique de Vienne

On 1 January 2017, Gustavo Dudamel will become the youngest-ever conductor to lead the Vienna Philharmonic's famous New Year's Concert.

In 2007, Gustavo Dudamel conducted the Vienna Philharmonic for the first time at the Lucerne Festival and made his debut at the Vienna Philharmonic Subscription Concerts in 2011. Dudamel conducted the Summer Night Concert Schönbrunn in 2012 and led the orchestra on its traditional Vienna Philharmonic Week in Japan in 2014.

The orchestra performs a different musical programme every year with works from the vast repertoire of the Johann Strauss family and its contemporaries under the baton of the world’s most prestigious conductors, recently including Franz Welser-Möst, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta and Mariss Jansons. The New Year's Concert is TV’s most watched annual classical music concert and every year achieves staggering market shares of between 30 and 40% in many European countries, reaching over 20 million TV viewers and potentially 6.5 million radio listeners in Europe.
