Building bridges with international institutions to promote public service media values

Making public service media’s voice heard and representing the EBU’s and its Members’ interests is driving our activities at international level.

The EBU has developed institutional relationships with many intergovernmental and international organizations with regional or international broadcasting associations and civil society organizations.

Practically, this means joint events, joint publications, or taking part in expert panels with organizations like UNESCO, Council of Europe, and the World Broadcasting Union, among others.

We are especially active on the topics of journalist safety as well as diversity, equity and inclusion.

Learn more about our institutional relations in our blog post.

International Broadcasting Assembly

The International Broadcasting Assembly (IBA) brings together a community of EBU Members that offer services to international audiences. It provides a platform to address common challenges, share expertise and identify areas of joint initiatives and mutual support.

Its committee members represent DW, France Médias Monde, France Télévisions, HRT, RAI, Radio Romania International, RTS, and RTVE.

IBA addresses strategic issues such as distribution and platform policy, media freedom and journalist safety, diversity, equity and inclusion as well as copyright and piracy; it contributes to EBU policies in these fields. IBA connects with international institutions advocating public service media. Members get together once a year at the International Broadcasting Assembly and meetings on specific issues are scheduled throughout the year.
