Eurovision TV Summit Special Focus Day: Nordic television and media

The highlight of the Eurovision TV Summit, the Special Focus day takes place today at the DR Concert House in Copenhagen.  Over 300 delegates from public service media are attending.

This year the spotlight is on Nordic television and media from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland. It provides a unique opportunity to share, network and learn about their work and experiences from both public service media and commercial broadcasters. Well known TV directors, TV producers, creative TV developers, and special talent, present strongholds in programming, new successful formats and new trends in Nordic television.

Annika Nyberg Frankenhaeuser, EBU Media Director is providing the keynote introduction giving an insight into the Nordic media landscape highlighting the differences and similarities.

Danish news host Lillian Kretz hosts two Special Focus sessions on “how to attract younger audiences – what is their master plan?” and on “Successful Nordic cross media formats”.  Contributions to both sessions are made by commissioning editors and audience ratings researchers from DR, NRK, SVT, YLE and RUV.

Keynote speaker and renowned Norwegian talk host, Fredrik Skavlan, shows how his talk show conquered the hearts of the Swedish and Norwegian audiences. He also shares his personal insights on the tragic shooting incident of 22/7 on Utoya.

Keynote speaker, Ingolf Gabold considered the godfather of Danish television fiction reveals the secrets behind the international success of Danish television fiction series according to his “15 Dogmas of Fiction”.

The Special Focus Day includes the ever-popular Proud to Present showcasing the best in European public service programming of the year in all genres from 2011. Eurovision TV experts groups have carefully selected the best of public service broadcasting programmes in Europe.
