IBC 2012: demos, tours, presentations and more
27 juillet 2012
It's full speed ahead towards IBC 2012, with EBU staff preparing for what is set to be one of our busiest ever visits to Amsterdam. As usual the EBU booth (10.F20) will feature a number of technology demonstrations, and Members are invited to drop by to meet with EBU representatives and learn about some of the latest developments.
A new addition for this year will be a dedicated presentation theatre, where every half hour visitors can hear a presentation on one of our key work areas. Presentations on spectrum policy, FIMS, broadband delivery and Beyond HD will be interspersed with others on EBU-TT, networks and storage, hybrid radio and green broadcasting. A complete daily schedule will be published towards the end of August.
The booth will have six demonstrations this year: a live MPEG-DASH implementation, new 4k video test sequences, the latest FIMS specification, recent developments in hybrid radio, issues around the use of LED lighting, and, from the BBC, advanced RF systems for HD cameras.
The IBC Conference will include many EBU contributions this year. On Saturday afternoon we are producing a session titled "Prepare Today, Prosper Tomorrow: future-proofing for broadcasters", that will include presentations from six leading experts. Monday morning's Loudness Breakfast is a free session sponsored by the EBU and chaired by the PLOUD chairman Florian Camerer. Besides that EBU reprentatives are involved in various other sessions concerning the future of broadcasting, spectrum management and 3DTV technology.
With all of the above, plus vendor tours, EBU group meetings, press activities and a drinks reception for EBU Members, IBC remains a highlight of our annual events calendar.
