Newsroom Integration - IMPS participants learn lessons in Belgium
06 novembre 2012
Twenty-five participants from 16 EBU Members took part in the third IMPS theme visit, to VRT and RTBF in Brussels. Across two days, journalists and engineers have reviewed and discussed together with their Belgian colleagues their strategies to integrate their news production. Both organizations candidly shared their achievements and the lessons learned on the journey to integrated news production, as well as the key findings for successful migration.
Through a special video message to the IMPS group, the president of the EBU, Jean-Paul Philippot, outlined the importance of integrated media production for Public Service Broadcasters to be present on all platforms.
IMPS, the Strategic Programme on Integrated Media Production Strategies, focuses on the change management, technical, editorial and organizational issues surrounding the transition to cross-platform, cross-media production. It is an interdisciplinary programme between the EBU Technology and Innovation Department and the Eurovision Academy.
Next on the IMPS agenda is a Network & Learn meeting to be held on Monday 10 & Tuesday 11 December at the EBU in Geneva. The Network & Learn event will detail the lessons learned from the first theme visits at Radio Bremen, YLE News, VRT News and RTBF Info, explore how the initial findings can be used by newsrooms that are in the process of integration, and provide a good opportunity for further discussion and networking.
