An open call for Open Source papers

Users, developers and other stakeholders in Open Source software of all kinds are invited to submit paper proposals for the 2013 edition of the Libre Software Meeting. This international event, also known in French as RMLL - Rencontre Mondiale du Logiciel Libre - will take place this year in Brussels from 6-11 July.

Call for Papers

While the scope of the event is very wide, covering everything from health and social policy to gaming and 3D printing, the EBU is particularly involved in the media-related activities. As in 2012, the EBU is programming papers around the use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for Media, Radio and TV. EBU Members are invited to respond to the Call for Papers to ensure that their proposals can be considered for the session.

There is great potential for increased use of FOSS in almost all aspects of the broadcast business - from media production to distribution and delivery. During LSM 2012, which took place in Geneva, the EBU organized two days of presentations with several examples showing that the open approach can provide products with rich feature sets, professional support and viable business models.

LSM 2012 was also the backdrop for the video below, featuring David Wood on Open Standards, Open Source and Free Software.
