Vision2020 website: charting the future of PSM

The EBU has launched a purpose-built website for its flagship Vision2020 project, focused on developing a roadmap for the future of public service media (PSM).

A highlight of the site is a customised time-line, which charts the progress of the project since its inception by the EBU Executive Board in July 2012.

The easy-to-navigate pages feature summaries of meetings, reports, video comments and reference materials amassed so far.

Visual notes from the EBU Trends Conference, which took place in on May 31, have also been uploaded. About 150 decision makers from European PSM gathered in Brussels for the one day conference to search for new ideas and best practices in programming, distribution and governance.

Project leader Ruurd Bierman urged Members to visit the site and discover highlights from the day.

“Participation in the conference exceeded our expectations,” said Mr Bierman. “I hope these materials inspire EBU Members to take charge of their journeys into the future, particularly those unable to attend.”

The results of the project will be presented to the EBU Winter General Assembly at the end of 2013. Three Experts Groups drawn from respective Member Committees and supported by the Vision2020 project team, have begun to analyse the big issues facing PSM leading up to the next decade.
