World Broadcasting Unions discuss common concerns in Malta

Malta - Leaders of the World Broadcasting Unions* met in Malta to discuss spectrum protection, a Broadcaster Treaty, sports rights, satellite jamming and other topics of concern to broadcasters worldwide.

The discussions were chaired by Michael McEwen, Director General of the North American Broadcasters Association. The other participants were Ingrid Deltenre (EBU Director General), Lawrence Atiase (Secretary-General of the African Union of Broadcasters), Javad Mottaghi (Secretary-General of the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union), Abdelrahim Suleiman (Technical Director of the Arab States Broadcasting Union) and Alexandre Jobim (Chairman of the Legal Committee of the International Association of Broadcasters).

The meeting took place on 25 June just outside the Maltese capital of Valletta on the margins of the EBU's 70th General Assembly.
