Armenian TV confirms DG appointment

EBU Member Armenian Public Television (APT) has formally confirmed Margarita Grigoryan in the post of Director General she has occupied ad interim since earlier this year.

Former journalist Ms Grigoryan, 37, is an accomplished media and economics scholar who holds an assistant professorship at the Chair of Radio and Television of Yerevan State University. Since 1998 she has lectured in journalism, media research and recording and editing.

Ms Grigoryan is the first woman to hold the top job at Armenian Public Television.

Commenting on Ms Grigoryan’s appointment, Ruben Jaghinyan, Chairman of the Council of the Public TV & Radio Company of Armenia said her “combination of wide and long-term experience in the sphere of media and administrative management” had persuaded the Council of her suitability for the role.

APT and APR joined the EBU in 2005 after the Union extended its eligibility criteria for active membership to include national broadcasters in countries outside the European Broadcasting Zone which are members of the Council of Europe.

The EBU wishes Ms Grigoryan every success in her role and looks forward to good, ongoing cooperation with APT.
