News Xchange 2013 – website goes live

The News Xchange 2013 website – www.newsxchange.org – is now live ahead of the news industry’s most provocative and insightful conversation, which opens Wednesday (13 November), in Marrakech.

Now in its twelfth year, News Xchange is a Eurovision event, with Moroccan EBU Member SNRT the host broadcaster. This year News Xchange will welcome its highest number of delegates ever – up 10 percent on 2012 – from 52 countries. This includes for the first time delegates from Brunei, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Libya, Oman and Sudan.

To host such a globally visible event, News Xchange required a purpose-built website that corresponds to Eurovision’s branding, which is what designer Cornelis Jacobs, owner of Cityzen Agency, has produced.

“News Xchange is an industry-leading event and therefore needs an industry-leading website that is fully aligned to Eurovision’s look and feel,” said Jacobs. “That is what we have been focusing on in terms of design, functionality and user experience.”

The website uses responsive design to enable seamless browsing on any device without the need to download a special app for mobile or tablet browsing.

Jacobs’s approach has won plaudits from within the media industry and technology industry.

Former New York Times reporter and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Jigar Mehta said, “The website captures what News Xchange is all about, and that is a real conversation about the news industry today”.

Award-winning filmmaker and NX 2011 speaker Chris Jordan exclaimed: "Cool website. I love the whole vibe."

www.newsxchange.org will be entered for the 18th Webby Awards, which honour the best of the web.

As well as via the website, News Xchange can be followed on its Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/newsxchange  and on Twitter through @nxsocial and the hashtag #nx13.

Footage of all events will be available to download on Eurovision’s World Link platform.
