RAI award open to young investigative journalists

EBU's Italian Member RAI is looking for young journalists, under the age of 31, to enter the Roberto Morrione competition. The prize is dedicated to the memory of the RAI investigative journalist Roberto Morrione and is part of the Ilaria Alpi television journalism award.

The award supports the production of investigative reports, both national and international, that touch upon topics relevant to Italy's political, social and cultural life - such as organized crime, illegal trafficking (toxic waste, arms, drugs, humans), bribery and intimidation, human rights abuses, terrorist and insurgent organizations activities.

Although the competition mainly focuses on television projects, it also places an emphasis on reports that use new communication technologies and social networking.

Three projects will be selected and announced on 31 January 2014. Each winner will be awarded 3,000 euros to produce their reports, along with journalistic, technical and legal guidance during a period of five months.

The final awards will be decided by a jury and consist of a further compensation of 3,000 euros for first place, 2,000 euros for second place and 1000 Euros for third place. The winning report will be broadcast by the prize’s network partners, Rai News24.

All competition entries must be sent to the administrative office by Sunday 15 December 2013. More information is available at www.premiorobertomorrione.it.
