EBU's Caribbean sister union appoints new secretary general

The Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU), one of the EBU’s seven sister unions, has appointed Sonia Gill as its new Secretary General.
A journalist, media regulator, development practitioner and attorney at law, Ms Gill replaces Patrick Cozier, who retired at the end of 2013 after 18 years in the post.
A graduate of the Universities of the West Indies and of London, Ms Gill recently completed a tour of duties as Assistant Resident Representative and Governance Advisor of the United Nations Development Programme, Jamaica. She has qualifications in media and communications and in law. She has lectured in Constitutional and Administrative Law, Media Skills and Media and Language.
She previously held the post of Assistant Executive Director of the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica.
EBU Director General Ingrid Deltenre sent congratulations to Ms Gill on her appointment. She wished her all success in the post and said the EBU looked forward to working with the CBU under her leadership.
Together with the EBU, the African Union of Broadcasters, the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, the Arab States Broadcasting Union, the International Association of Broadcasting, the North American Broadcasters Association and the Organizacion de Telecomunicaciones Iberoamericanas, the CBU is a member of the World Broadcasting Unions.
