The EBU congratulates Nataša Pirc Musar on her appointment as the new director general of Member broadcaster RTV Slovenia.

Ms Pirc Musar leaves her post as the Slovenian Information Commissioner, which she has held since 2004.

A former television journalist and human rights lawyer, she started her career as a reporter and news presenter at the Slovenian national television station before joining the largest commercial television broadcaster in Slovenia.

In 2001, she joined the largest Slovenian private financial corporation as Head of Corporate Communications, and in April 2003 she became the director of the Training and Communications Centre of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Slovenia.

She remains the current president of the Europol Joint Supervisory Body, Europol's independent data protection supervisor.

"The appointment of Ms Pirc Musar exemplifies the growing number of women executives in the media," said Ingrid Deltenre, the Director General of the EBU. "We look forward to continuing our work together with RTV Slovenia in standing up for public service media values and servicing the democratic, cultural and social needs of Europe."
