Entries are being invited for this year’s Conférence Permanente de l'Audiovisuel Méditerranéen (COPEAM) awards ceremony, which will take place on 20 September 2014 in Turin as part of the 66^th Prix Italia.

This year’s competition is themed 'Refugees Stories: Glances from the South’ in recognition of the best film (reportage, short film or documentary) dealing with the subject of refugees.

The competition is open to all independent producers and television stations from Africa and the Middle East. The deadline for submissions is July 15.

A debate featuring Italian and international figures will follow the awards ceremony when a selection of entries will be presented.

COPEAM Secretary General Pier Luigi Malesani said that through the competition, COPEAM hopes to highlight the role film plays in raising public awareness about sensitive cultural issues in the Mediterranean area.
