EBU to host November WBU satellite networks forum
22 août 2014
The forthcoming World Broadcasting Unions International-Satellite Operations Group (WBU-ISOG) Forum will be hosted by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Geneva from 18 to 19 November.
The EBU is one of 8 broadcasting unions that make up the World Broadcasting Unions and whose combined members serve the world with radio and television broadcasts. Broadcasters who belong to these unions regularly share programmes and link up to each other through a sophisticated network of satellite and fibre optic links.
The WBU-ISOG Forum, which meets twice a year, exists to provide international perspective to union members on key satellite communications issues for news operations, special events, fibre and satellite carriers and equipment service providers.
All EBU Members, and those with a recognised bona-fide interest in the issues, are invited to attend the seminars and workshops.
Session highlights will include:
- UHDTV – what, when and how much?
- Integrated Broadcast Broadband – how can greater world alignment be achieved?
- Metadata contribution
- What happens to sports coverage and contribution in the coming years?
- Fibre contribution networks – will fibre kill satellites?
- Are SNG trucks downsizing to camera cars?
- Google: what price for global connectivity?
More registration and programme details will be available soon.
