Partnership Programme: The Director General of Radio and Television of Kosovo (RTK), Mentor Shala, has been re-elected for another three-year term.

RTK’s Board of Directors carried out interviews with four candidates for the Director General’s position, electing Shala as the Director General in a secret ballot.

In the last three years Mentor Shala has launched three new television channels, one of them in Serbian, without any additional budget. For his next mandate, Shala will give priority to the sustainability, long-term funding and solution of property issue of RTK.

RTK was established by the EBU in 1999 in the damaged premises of Radio and Television Pristina under a mandate from the United Nations and the OSCE. The aim was to provide impartial news and information to the population of Kosovo during the process of transition to peace and democracy.  RTK broadcasts in Albanian, Serbian, Turkish, Bosnian, and Roma.
