The EBU and host broadcaster Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) have confirmed 11 countries will participate in the 2016 Eurovision Young Musicians competition in Cologne on the 3 September 2016.

Broadcasters in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Malta, Norway, Poland, San Marino, Slovenia and Sweden will select the top young virtuosi from their countries, who will compete live for the top prize in Cologne.

This year’s will be the 18th edition of the biennial event, open to Europe’s most talented musicians up to 19 years of age. Previous winners who have gone onto international performing careers include Markus Pawlik (1982), Natalie Clein (1994) and Julian Rachlin (1988) who will serve on this year’s competition jury.

The two-hour show will be hosted by violinist Daniel Hope. Millions of TV and online viewers from across Europe and from all ages are expected to watch the live broadcast.
