A special concert by the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra at Tbilisi Central Hall included a celebration of the music that has accompanied the GPB's most popular programmes over the decades. The televised performance got great feedback from the audience and the video has been shared thousands of times on social media.
Media and Communications Director Tinatin Berdzenishvili said: “The Georgian Public Broadcaster has taken a very special approach towards its 60th Anniversary. Currently the GBP is going through a complex transformation process and we consider it important to highlight the significance of public service media, building on its strong historical background, as it transofrms into a modern multimedia institution."
Last month, the original presenters of Georgian television and other significant stars of the broadcaster also visited the GPB and met with the new generation of journalists and staff. At the reception, 12 of the original presenters were awarded with symbols of gratitude for their dedicated work. Copies of these awards are now on display in GPB's new TV museum exhibition.
Berdzenishvili added: "The Georgian Public Broadcaster has collected the heritage of Georgian history and culture over the last 60 years. Now is the perfect opportunity for us to share it with the world."
