EurovisionI 2013: Final Documents

These are final documents from Eurovisioni XXVII, which took place in Rome from 10 to 14 October 2013 at the Palazzo Farnese (French Embassy), the Villa Medici (French Academy) and the Casa del cinema in Villa Borghese.

Promoted by the association of the same name (whose members include RAI, France Televisions, ARD, RTVE, BBC, EBU, RTBF, Eutelsat, CSA and AGCOM) has dedicate this edition to the topic "???"

The association decided to change the original proposal of topic, after the sudden and unexpected shut down of ERT. The first structured and organic temptative in Europe to abolish public service broadcasting with the excuse that has become irrelevant in the age of the convergence.

The whole discussion was then focused on the question if there is still room and need for a public service in Europe and why.
Tried to answer to this simple (but in reality very complex) question various personalities.
From Claudio Cappon, EBU vicepresident, to Silvia Costa, MEP and of the Culture Committee, Alain Le Roy, French Ambassador in Italy; Eutelsat deputy CEO, Michel Azibert; Carolina Lorenzon from Mediaset, representing private broadcasters, members of the two authorities of control on audiovisual (the French CSa and the Italian AGCOM); the Director General of Rai, Luigi Gubitosi and the Secretary General of France Televisions, Martin Ajdari.
The question was furtherly developped into 2 workshops: one focusing on the relations between PSB and various actors such as Independent producers, artists and writers, sport rights owners, etc that benefits of the public broadcasting special relation aimed to support national cultural identities and the language; the second one focusing on the relations -in the universe of multiplatforms- of PSB and the other actors such as internet providers, satellite operators, telecoms and so on.
ZDF, ARTE, John simenon and many others participated to the workshops and their opinion have been collected in the final documents of workshop 1 and 2 that are here attached and shared with EBU community.

The festival also presented 4 main works produced by PSB in the last season, such as L'escalier de fer of FTV; George of ARD; Vicente Ferrer of RTVE and Una madre imperfetta of RAI as part of the selection "cinemas of the public service".

Followed an "italian day" of Eurovisioni, where was discussed the next renewal of the concession to RAI of the mission of Public Service Broadcasting, that shall go under renewal in 2016. Among the main speakers the DG of Rai,Luigi Gubitosi; two professors of Constitutional Law, Roberto Zaccaria and Alessandro Pace and many other experts.
Two special seminars were dedicated to the relations between RAI and university; and to media , film and digital literacy as one of the priority for the Public service at the age of convergence.

The last day was dedicated to the preparation of the Italian Semester of Presidency of the European Union. It was attended by the various institutional bodies in charge of the preparation and was decided the creation of a working group specific on media and audivisual, that will accompany the preparatory work until July 2014 and will monitor the effectiveness of the actions implemented by Italian government.
