Finding the voice - Engaging teenagers with news

23 janvier 2024

Finding the voice - Engaging teenagers with news: young people need to understand the world they live in to make good decisions. In our traditional understanding, early access to well-sourced and impartial news enables them to become active and engaging citizens. However, growing evidence of news aversion and a preference for short-form social media rather than trusted content from public service broadcasters is concerning.
But, as young people still seem to engage with stories, moral debates, and issues such as climate change, maybe there’s an alternative way forward.
In this session, David Prest, founder of audio production company Whistledown, Jakob Munck of Munck Studios, and Marie Helly, formerly of BBC News, discuss a new podcast and social media project that hopes to engage young European listeners with news and current affairs in a different way.
