DW symposium discusses future of PSB in Tunisia
18 novembre 2011
Politicians and international media experts gathered in Tunis to discuss the future of public broadcasting in Tunisia following last month’s elections.
Topics included media regulation, political independence, sound governance, funding, media ownership and the transformation of state broadcasting into public service media. Contributions were made by experts from France, Romania, South Africa and UK, among others.
The EBU was represented by consultant Olaf Steenfadt, who mentioned the Union’s experience of assisting broadcasters in central and eastern Europe in the transition to public service.
The symposium was designed by Deutsche Welle Akademie to initiate an exchange of experts on media transition in Tunisia, Germany and countries of Eastern Europe. It will be followed by fact-finding visits to provide first-hand experience and foster personal contacts in support of reforming Tunisian Radio and Television.
