23 septembre 2011
TEDx conference on socially responsible media

On September 30th, Rome will become the centre of socially responsible media. TEDxTransmedia returns, organized by the EBU*, for its second global conference focusing on media that matters: 20 engaging speakers will explore, using the TED** standards, the concept:

“WHAT if: Making a difference with Socially Responsible Media”.

Core questions will be tackled including:

  • What is Socially Responsible Media?
  • What are the possibilities and magnitude of Socially Responsible Media?
  • How can Media today be relevant, make a difference and contribute to changing the world?
  • What might be the ideal blueprint for a Public Service that Matters?

Media is becoming an increasingly effective tool for social change, which in turn can be leveraged by media, in particular by public service broadcasters. 35 different EBU Member broadcasters will be represented at the event from all over Europe and beyond.

The transmedia approach integrates the different existing media in order to enhance and enrich the experience and engage all different audiences. TEDxTransmedia will focus on extending the transmedia language to areas beyond pure 'entertainment', exploring the potentials for a transmedia approach to actively help shape a better future.

The event programme features international speakers from a variety of sectors including creative professionals, media experts and European public broadcasters in a programme that, in accordance with TED guidelines, is fast-paced with carefully selected content and stories that are worth spreading.

**About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. Further information about TED: www.ted.com
