The inaugural session of the EBU's Legal and Public Affairs Assembly is taking place in Zagreb on 19-20 May 2011, at the kind invitation of HRT. The Legal and Public Affairs Assembly was created in December 2010 when the EBU General Assembly decided to restructure the Union's legal and public affairs activities.

The Assembly's session in Zagreb will discuss a wide range of legal, policy and lobbying issues covering such domains as hybrid broadcasting, spectrum, freedom of expression, WikiLeaks, copyright and sport.

The Assembly will also be invited to elect a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and a maximum of 16 additional members of the new Legal and Policy Committee. Legal advisers and policy affairs experts within all EBU Active Members are eligible to stand for election to the Committee.
