The broadcast at no additional charge by Euroradio Members of a dozen operas by Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) and Richard Strauss (1864-1949) just in time for the anniversaries of their birth: this is the outcome of the agreement on a lump-sum payment for authors’ rights concluded between the EBU and the UK publisher Boosey & Hawkes.
Some of these works, coming from such venues as the Vienna State Opera and the Metropolitan Opera of New York, will be heard already during the current 2013 Euroradio Summer Festivals, with the rest to follow during the 2013-2014 Euroradio Season.
The Summer Festivals of over 400 concerts, running from June through mid-September, feature such prestigious events as the Martha Argerich Project in Lugano, the Chorégies in Orange and the BBC Proms.
