The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (VPO) takes to the Beijing stage this Sunday (3 November) for the final of three concerts that form an exclusive distribution agreement for EBU broadcasters.

Renowned German conductor Christian Thielemann will lead the orchestra in a performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 in B-Dur, op. 60 and Symphony No. 5 in c-Moll, op. 67 at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.

Thielemann, who in 2012 was appointed principal conductor of the Staatskapelle Dresden, one of the world's oldest orchestras, is recognised for his interpretation of German Romanticism, both in opera and on the stage.

The concert will be available to Members signed to the VPO package by deferred transmission via host broadcaster CCTV, the only television network broadcasting in all six of the United Nations' working languages.

The EBU transmits the VOP's New Year's concert, which most recently was broadcast in 86 countries, including 42 Members, to a combined audience of 50 million people, making it the most watched classical concert on TV.

EBU TV and Radio Members interested in carrying the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra broadcasts can find more production information at Eurovision's The Third Concert page.
