04 juillet 2014
The EBU announces today its 2nd EBU Women Executives in Media (WEM) summit will be held by Danish Member DR in Copenhagen on 3 February 2015.
The forum was created by EBU Director General Ingrid Deltenre to provide an opportunity for the world's leading women media executives to network, share professional experiences, and work towards achieving greater influence in their sector.
The event is organised by the EBU’s professional training unit, the Eurovision ACADEMY.
Director General of DR Maria Rørbye Rønn will deliver the forum's keynote speech on the importance of the role of CEO and of the relationship between public service media (PSM) and their stakeholders.
"I'm am very pleased and proud that DR will have the opportunity to host WEM 2015," said Mrs Rørbye Rønn. "It is important for women in the media to have an opportunity to discuss their views on media development and the roles that women play in media."
"Furthermore," she added, "it is a great opportunity for the participants to learn from one another and to expand their international network."
DR's Director of Drama Piv Behrendt will also chair a panel on creative content entitled: "DR: 15 years of Strategy, Strong Commitment and Partnership with the Creative and Cinema Industries." Ms Behrendt recently oversaw major productions The Killing and The Castle.
In tandem with the WEM initiative, the EBU has launched a LinkedIn group for participants to move the discussion forward and maintain regular contact.
