06 janvier 2015
24 EBU Members will lend support to 27 acts at this year’s Eurosonic festival for emerging European bands and artists in Groningen, the Netherlands, (15-17 January).
Chair of the Euroradio Eurosonic Group Jan Sneum says the partnership between Eurosonic, Euroradio Members and music professionals creates the ideal platform for audiences to discover new talent.
“Every year, tribes of musicians, media and music professionals from boutique to established international organizations rally in Groningen,” Mr Sneum said. “This unique experience is celebrated by an enthusiastic local audience which year after year supports the emergence of fresh musical talent.”
EBU Member radio broadcasters NPO (Netherlands) ARD (Germany) SR (Sweden) and BBC (United Kingdom) will provide concert recordings through the Euroradio network.
Ben Houdijk (NPO/3FM), who is responsible for overall production, says the event is notable for its international collaboration.
“For 3FM, it’s great to bring this Festival to our radio colleagues in Europe and beyond,” he says. “With the support of the BBC, WDR and SR, we record more than 100 acts from this talent pool known as Eurosonic. The biggest winners are the listeners.”
The European Border Breakers Awards (EBBA) open the Festival on Wednesday, 14 January. The Awards go to emerging European pop acts which enjoy success in Europe outside their own borders.
The show is available for TV, Radio and online.
