Hosts for Eurovision Song Contest 2016 announced
14 décembre 2015
EBU Member SVT has announced the two hosts for the 61st Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm next May. 2015 Winner Måns Zelmerlöw will take to the stage once again, this time as presenter, alongside comedienne Petra Mede who also makes a Eurovision return. She hosted the Contest when it was last held in Sweden in 2013.
“I’m so incredibly happy to be part of the Eurovison Song Contest sphere once more,” said Zelmerlöw. “And to be doing it together with Petra Mede, whom I consider an outstanding host and also one of the most delightful people I know, is great. For my part I’m convinced that the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will be at least as much fun as last year was.”
Petra Mede says she’s honoured and happy to be hosting again: “It’s so incredible that I, once again, get the honour to be a part of the Eurovision Song Contest and doing this together with Måns Zelmerlöw, it’s a dream come true. He’s extremely professional so the one to be worried about is me, and what I’m going to wear,” she said.
The Executive Producer of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 Martin Österdahl is pleased to be welcoming the two hosts to Stockholm next May: “We are incredibly proud to present a superstar host duo. Viewers in Europe will recognise Petra Mede from her acclaimed effort in 2013 and Måns Zelmerlöw as the defending champion. With their capability we can build on their recognition and deliver something unexpected that Europe hasn’t seen before.”
The Eurovision Song Contest 2016 is a co-production between the EBU and SVT and will take place in the Globe Arena in Stockholm on Tuesday May 10 (Semi Final 1), Thursday May 12 (Semi Final 2) and Saturday May 14 (Grand Final).
