The EBU says the Greek parliament’s decision to re-establish ERT is a “vote of confidence” in public service broadcasting.
EBU Director General Ingrid Deltenre said "As the world's largest professional alliance of public service broadcasters, the EBU will continue to support the development of public service media in Greece. We offer our help and expertise to those working at NERIT, which now becomes ERT again."
"Benchmarking values is part of the EBU's role and we will certainly continue in our work, particularly in key areas like ensuring independence from government, pluralism and sustainable funding. These are crucial factors for a public broadcaster to fulfil its role for society and must be guaranteed.”
