The TV Documentary Experts Group consists of commissioning editors and other professionals from EBU Members working in documentary.
The work of the Documentary Experts Group is based on three pillars: networking, inspiration and co-production. Members are encouraged to strengthen their cooperation, share their experiences and develop new programmes.
A pitching session is organized during the two annual meetings to set up new co-production projects. About 15 selected co-production proposals are pitched by the Members to their colleagues. Most of these projects are dedicated to cultural issues, current affairs or subjects related to contemporary history.
Group members are elected for a two-year term from participating EBU Members. They meet on average four times a year.
The group's main tasks are:
- to follow up and support the on-going projects;
- to discuss the potential of new projects;
- to set the agenda for the meetings and the group's strategy for the future.
