31 October 2024France’s Institut national de l’audiovisuel (INA) has joined the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) as an Approved Participant to strengthen public media bonds and share expertise in AI and other areas.
Founded in 1975, INA is a public service media organization rich in decades of television, radio and Internet memory. With close to two billion video views each year, it archives, preserves, digitises and broadcasts one of the largest media collections in the world for all audiences.
“In the context of ever-accelerating technological evolutions, INA is committed to contributing to the reinvention of the audiovisual and digital ecosystem,” said Agnès Chauveau, INA’s Managing Director. “Deeply committed to passing on its unique expertise, our heritage-driven media organization is rooted in history and memory.”
As an EBU Approved Participant, the INA aims to collaborate across the European media sector, promote innovation and share its editorial and technology expertise, especially in the artificial intelligence (AI) field.
INA people are joining three EBU assemblies – Digital, Technical, and Legal and Public Affairs – to help shape and strengthen the audiovisual and digital future while preserving the past for public access and the good of society.
The connection brings INA into the world’s leading alliance of public service media – with the EBU’s content, advocacy, training and innovation for our member broadcasters and partners reaching more than one billion people in nearly 160 languages.
