Eurovision media services joins SRT Alliance to improve video streaming

Eurovision Media Services is pleased to join more than 35 organizations as part of the SRT Alliance to support the continued adoption and development of the low latency SRT open source video transport protocol.

The SRT Alliance was founded by Haivision and Wowza with the goal of expanding the streaming media ecosystem and supporting the collaborative development of SRT, an open-source video transport protocol that enables the delivery of high quality and secure, low-latency video across the public internet.

By bringing together media organizations, broadcast equipment and service providers, it promotes the industry-wide recognition and adoption of SRT as the de facto standard for low-latency internet streaming.

Graham Warren, Chief Operating Officer of Eurovision Media Services, said: "We are proud to join such an initiative to help address the main challenges that our clients regularly face when it comes to providing high performance, low-latency streaming in a secure and reliable way across the public internet."

“With the SRT Alliance, Eurovision Media Services is joining an industry movement to improve the way the world streams video,” said Sylvio Jelovcich, Vice President of Global Alliances, Haivision. “We’re looking forward to seeing the SRT protocol be actively implemented in some of the world’s biggest broadcast streaming workflows, and anticipate more SRT adoption and developments in the coming months.”

In total, 14 new members in addition to Eurovision Media Services were announced today, including: Blueframe Technology, Castware, LGT, Livescale LS, Matrox, MediaNow, Osprey Video, Techex, Telvue, Teradek, The Streaming Company, Widermax and Widixio. These companies join other notable SRT Alliance members from the broadcast and streaming industries including Harmonic, Brightcove, and Limelight Networks.

The SRT Alliance will be hosting an open meeting at IBC 2017 on Sunday 17th September. To attend please RSVP.
