The Adèle Viret Quartet (Radio France), laureate of the 2024 Euroradio Jazz Competition

The Euroradio Jazz Competiton (EJC) event encourages and promotes young jazz musicians and ensembles through broadcasts by EBU Members and gives them the possibility to perform on stage at international festivals, thus bringing them to the attention of a wide audience of enthusiastic listeners on the spot and on the airwaves.

Ensembles selected for the 2026 finals

  • Mumble Mafia, submitted by ARD-DLF (Germany)
  • Björg Blöndal's C4THERINE, submitted by RÚV (Iceland)
  • Sondre Moshagen Lightning Trio, submitted by NRK (Norway)
  • Amphitrio, submitted by ROR (Romania)

The Finals will take place during the Jazz in Marciac Festival on 28 July.

How it works

EBU Members submit recordings from the two previous years by one ensemble of no more than five musicians, with the average age of the musicians not to exceed 30. The semi-finals are made up of 2 rounds, phases One and Two, during which an EBU Jury selects the 4 finalists.

Each of the 4 finalist ensembles then competes during a public set for the Euroradio Jazz Competition Grand Prix, awarded by a Grand Jury made up of professionals of the music sector and EBU radio organization representatives. The Grand Jury also designates one of the performers as Soloist of the Year. Once again this year, the EJC will take place during Jazz in Marciac and will be hosted by Radio France/France Musique, in collaboration with the festival.

Getting onboard the very best elements of each country's young jazz scene and gender balance constitute high priorities for the EJC.
