Media literacy is essential to empower audiences to participate in civil societies and consume content to make informed decisions. Public service media (PSM) is a vital public source of unbiased information and diverse political opinions. It provides different groups in society an opportunity to receive and impart knowledge, express themselves and share ideas. Moreover, it allows them to participate via media in society's creative, cultural and democratic aspects. PSM plays a role in promoting the audiences' ability to access and consume their content.
However, media literacy is a complex area involving many stakeholders, including PSM. Therefore, we have collected case studies, giving an overview of ten European countries' media literacy strategies and the extent of PSM's involvement in this vital topic.
We invite our Members to take a look at some case studies to learn and consider.
