The EBU Audio Storytelling Festival 2025 took place in Vilnius on 25–28 May, hosted by LRT (Lithuanian National Radio and Television).
The four-day festival agenda incorporated unique insights into the Lithuanian audio storytelling scene, alongside group listening sessions and facilitated discussions, the “How I made it” masterclasses by the award-winning authors, and many more talks around the best practice and craft of audio storytelling, as well as carefully curated side events.

“Lithuanian audio documentary makers wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of international community. Our first IFC (now ASF) was back in Varna, 2008. We’ve been able to learn and grow as authors thanks to these annual listening sessions, coffee line conversations, and friendships we’ve made over the years. So, we are beyond excited to be able to welcome everyone in Vilnius this year," says Vaida Pilibaitytė, Head of the Radio Documentary Group at LRT.
The Festival theme for 2025 was Community and Connections – both of which make us better storytellers.
Audio storytelling is rarely a solitary job. For one, building an honest and close connection between an author and their protagonist is an essential part of every good story. But connections in the professional audio community are just as important, not only to learn from each other and grow as authors, but also to get the most of our creative ideas. And finally, understanding the contexts we work in – the history, the politics, and socioeconomic developments – and making sense of the increasingly complex reality also means connecting the most important dots in the stories we tell. How do we nurture these relationships and make them stronger? How do we welcome the newcomers to the audio storytelling world? As a community, we can benefit from sharing and discussing our work, and from providing and receiving constructive feedback. The EBU ASF Vilnius 2025 hopes to create a space for all of this.
