Norbert Himmler re-elected as Director General of ZDF

The ZDF Television Council has confirmed Dr Norbert Himmler in his position as Director General of ZDF following a vote at its meeting today.
Welcoming the result, Council Chair Gerda Hasselfeldt said the re-election ‘underscores the Broadcasting Council's confidence in his leadership and his clear strategic direction for ZDF’.
Dr Himmler has headed ZDF since 2022.
He joined the broadcaster as a freelancer in the news department in 1997 and worked as Programme Director at ZDF - responsible for fiction, music, comedy, children, culture, history, and science - until his appointment as DG. He is also Chair of the 3sat Management Board.
His second term as Director General will begin on 15 March 2027.
