Eurosonic Festival 2017

Ben Houdijk

The best place to discover the most exciting emerging acts across Europe, the next edition will take place from 11 to 14 January 2017.

The conference

Euroradio's Eurosonic Festival has become a favourite amongst artists, public broadcasters, music professionals and music lovers to discover and showcase exciting new up-and-coming acts. Past festivals have included appearances by such artists as Franz Ferdinand, Aurora, Kaizers Orchestra, Phoenix, Mando Diao, First Aid Kit and Selah Sue.

Initially launched in 1986 as a one-day event to promote Dutch and Belgian bands, EBU radio stations joined the party in 1999. With the help of our partners Eurosonic Nooderslag and Europe's public service broacasters, the Eurosonic Festival has grown into a 3-day extravaganza with nearly 200 European bands playing at 20 venues.

Our EBU Member broadcasters join forces to produce and record these performances, which are then relayed via Euroradio to a pan-European audience (with videos when available). A special media compound at the festival facilitates transmissions, interviews, session recordings, reports and the collection of audio-visual material.

The EBBAs

The festival kicks off each year with Euroradio's European Border Breaker Awards (EBBA). The EBBAs are awarded to emerging European pop acts who enjoy success outside their own borders. The show is produced for TV, radio and online, and EBU Members participate in the nomination and selection process.

Eurosonic 2017 compilation

The EBU's public service broadcasters will again be at the heart of this year's festival with 26 EBU Members supporting 29 acts. In celebration and anticipation, we're happy to share with you just a few of the acts joining us at Eurosonic 2017. Listen for yourself:
