The 21st Internal Audit and 28th Finance Annual Meeting of the European Broadcasting Union was kindly hosted by TRT in Antalya on 1-2 June 2023. The annual meeting of the Internal Audit Group and Finance Assembly offers a unique occasion for public service media professionals to discuss best practices on strategic planning, risk management as well as common financial and audit challenges and opportunities that are transforming the broadcasting industry.

This year gathered experts from within the EBU community, to speak about the challenges public broadcasters are facing today as well as to share knowledge and experiences gained through key strategic projects led by both the EBU and our Members. Subjects discussed during the event included Risk Management, Artificial Intelligence and how to Combine financial and non-financial data into aggregated KPIs. Day 2 of the meeting split the group to delve more deeply into the areas of Finance and Internal Audit and included such topics as Funding Models and Sources of Income, Budgeting Processes and challenges being faced by Finance Departments, Whistleblowing, best practice in aligning Risk Assessments as well as Health & Safety issues of journalists and workers in the field.

We thank everyone who participated in the meeting and look forward to continuing the discussions with you to shape the next Annual Meeting. Should you have any ideas or questions please don’t hesitate to contact Angela Alves or Emmanuel Frantz.
