Kids' Drama Series 2026 - Script Development Meeting

Before the scripts are finalised and the actual shooting phase starts, all co-producers are invited to join a collective script development meeting.

The 2026 EBU Kids’ drama series script development meeting will take place on Friday 22 May in Dublin at the kind invitation of RTE.

This meeting is a key step in the film production process where all co-producers meet collectively to discuss the creative aspects of a script. The goal is to improve the script’s structure, dialogue, pacing, character development, and overall storytelling before it moves into production.

Here's what typically happens in a script development meeting:

• Feedback is shared on a current draft of the script.
• Story arcs and character motivations are analysed for consistency and emotional impact.
• Plot holes or weak scenes are identified and solutions are brainstormed.
• Notes from executives or stakeholders are reviewed and discussed.
• Next steps are assigned, usually resulting in a rewrite or polish of the script.
