Kids' Documentary Series 2026 - Rough Cuts Meeting

At the end of the shooting phase and before final editing, all co-producers participating in the 2026 Documentary Series are invited to join a collective rough-cut meeting.

The 2026 EBU Kids’ documentary series Rough Cuts meeting will take place on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September in Athens at the kind invitation of our Member ERT.

This meeting is a key step in the film production process where all co-producers meet collectively to review an early version of the edited footage, known as the rough cut. This version typically includes the basic structure of the film — scenes arranged in order with preliminary edits — but lacks polished elements like final sound mixing, colour correction, visual effects, or graphics.

The purpose of the meeting is to:

  • Assess the overall flow and narrative of the piece.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in pacing, storytelling, or visual continuity.
  • Gather feedback from the other co-producers, directors, or other collaborators.
  • Make decisions about what changes are needed before moving on to a more refined version, often called the final cut.

Practical information will be shared in due time.
