In conjunction with the 100th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's birth, US Associate APM will make available to EBU Radio organizations its recordings of the Minnesota Orchestra's historic five-city tour to South Africa from 10 to 18 August.

This first visit ever by a professional US orchestra to South Africa, under Osmo Vänskä, will showcase music deriving from South African, American and European musical traditions. Works performed by the Orchestra with such local guest artists as the Gauteng Choristers (pictured) will range from Beethoven's Fifth and Ninth Symphonies to the world premiere of "Harmonia Ubuntu" by South African composer Bongani Ndodana-Breen, in memory of Mandela. Available in MUSNew as soon as the EBU receives the recordings, the concerts will take place in Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Soweto and Johannesburg.

More information on the tour is available here.
