Concertino Praga

Since 2020, the annual Concertino Praga international competition has been subtitled the Antonín Dvořák International Radio Competition for Young Musicians.

Held every year since 1966, Concertino Praga is jointly organized by Czech Radio and the Academy of Classical Music. The competition has three rounds, with the final one in the form of a public concert. Candidates participate in the competition through their recordings (20-30 minutes), to which the jury listens on an anonymous basis.

For the 2021 competition, players can enter in two categories: solo performance and chamber ensemble performance. The final round will take place before an audience as part of the Dvořák Prague International Music Festival on 17-18 September 2021.

At the 2020 competition, the winner was the 14-year-old Russian pianist Vsevolod Zavidov, who chose Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat as his performance piece. In addition to a cheque for 5,000 EUR from the Karel Komárek Family Foundation, he also received the Czech Radio Prize (the production of a CD), as well as a cheque for 15,000 CZK from the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation. He and the other three finalists performed with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra under Jiří Rožeň at Prague´s Rudolfinum, where the Czech Philharmonic is in residence. The jury for finalists was made up of Václav Hudeček, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, François Leleux, Jakub Hrůša, Lukáš Vondráček, Walter Auer, Andreas Ottensammer, Jana Boušková, Ivo Kahánek, Marek Zvolánek, David Mareček and Thibaut Maillard.
