Classical music meets the European Union
19 January 2011
At the initiative of the Chairman of the EBU Radio Music Group, Friedrich Spangemacher (ARD, Saarländischer Rundfunk), the EBU is organizing a meeting on music with representatives of the European Union on 26 January 2011 in Brussels.
The objective is to showcase the extraordinary development of music programme exchanges, especially in the area of Classical music, among EBU Radio Members (see PowerPoint), as well as to ensure the support of government representatives, particularly when negotiating broadcast rights.
The meeting will be opened by an address by the EBU Director of Radio, Raina Konstantinova, followed by remarks by a representative of the European Union’s Culture Commission. The event will conclude with a concert by the Spectra Ensemble, organized by the Flanders Festival, a partner of the EBU for the MusMA project.
