European Broadcasting Union secures exclusive rights to distribute live Coldplay album launch gig in Cologne

Geneva, 18 October 2011 – The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has for the second time teamed up with record label EMI to become the exclusive distributor of a surprise live Coldplay concert in Cologne, Germany, on 2 November, 2011.

The concert will be produced by German EBU Member, ARD-WDR Eins Live, and transmitted internationally on the EBU's Euroradio* satellite network.

All EBU Member broadcasters will now have free live access to the concert, at the E-Werk arena, which promotes the October 24 release of the British band's fifth album, Mylo Xyloto.

Sixteen radio stations have already announced plans to broadcast the show live, with more expected to follow.

The first time the EBU worked with Coldplay was in June 2005, when Eurosonic**, the BBC and EMI presented the band live from London under a similar agreement for the worldwide release of their third album X&Y.
