Euroradio music event in Brussels

On the initiative of the Chairman of the EBU Radio Music Group, Friedrich Spangemacher (ARD, Saarländischer Rundfunk), the EBU and the Flanders Festival jointly organized an event at the Concert Noble in Brussels on 26 January, featuring a concert by the talented musicians of the Spectra Ensemble.

Before the concert, the EBU presented the extraordinary development of Euroradio and its music programme exchanges to the Brussels Community. The EBU is particularly interested in gaining the EU’s support in solving copyright issues with publishers and in allowing its Members' music archives to be broadcast.

In her opening address EBU Radio Director Raina Konstantinova highlighted the importance and the remarkable success of Euroradio, the world’s largest concert hall, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Pierre-Yves Tribolet, Head of Euroradio, then explained the Euroradio network in detail, how it works, and gave key figures of its overall performance.

A large audience of Brussels officials, politicians and EBU Members attended the event, which also featured a presentation on MusMa (European Broadcasting Festival) by Jan Briers, Administrator of the Flanders Festival, and of composer Thomas Smetryns. The EBU and the Flanders Festival are both partners in the MusMA project.
