Multimedia Meets Radio 2011

Multimedia Meets Radio 2011

At the kind invitation of RAI, the 8th annual Multimedia Meets Radio conference is taking place at the Italian broadcaster's historic radio studios in Via Asiago, Rome. Distinguished speakers will discuss the impact of the internet and social media on radio, on the very stage where international stars like Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra gave legendary performances for the benefit of Italian listeners, in the 1950's and 1960's .

Multimedia Meets Radio provides not only a showcase for the best examples of digital content, but is also a forum for exploring strategies and sharing ideas about the synergies between radio and the internet. This year, Swedish Radio will unveil a new, international crowdsourcing project which aims to produce the definitive online guide to radio and internet journalism in the 21st century.

Internet Radio metrics will be a special focus of MMR11, with presentations by Adswizz and Ando Media, the leading providers of online audience measurement software in Europe and North America respectively.

Among the other highlights, the more than 100 conference delegates will hear about some of the opportunities offered by HTML5 , as well as reviewing best practices in multimedia storytelling and discussing how to exploit tools like Ushahidi to crowdmap events ranging from natural disasters to transport strikes. And with a social media-driven revolution sweeping across North Africa and the Middle East, no future media conference would be complete without hearing a first-hand account of how Facebook and Twitter have shaken the Arab world.

MMR11 is taking place at the Rai Radio studios in Rome, on March 3-4. The conference hashtag is #mmr11.
