Sister union: ABU elects new president

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), the EBU's largest sister union, has elected Dr Kim In-kyu, President of South Korean broadcaster KBS, as its new president, at the ABU General Assembly, in Delhi.

Mr Kim, previously one of the ABU's three Vice-Presidents, will be replaced by Naoji Ono, currently Executive Vice-President of Japanese Associate EBU Member, NHK.

The other two Vice-Presidents are Datuk Ibrahim Yahaya, of Malaysian national broadcaster Radio Television Malaysia (RTM), who has been Acting President of the ABU since the departure in January of Yoshinori Imai, of NHK, and Murtaza Solangi, Director General of the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC).
