EBU signs new four-year agreement to broadcast the amstel gold race

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and its Dutch Member NOS have extended their joint partnership with the Amstel Gold Race organizers to distribute the European media rights (EBU) and to be the Host Broadcaster (NOS) for the next four years.

The agreement guarantees extensive, free-to-air coverage of one of cycling’s historic races for European cycling fans. It is also further confirmation of the firm commitment of the EBU and its Members to the sport of cycling.

EBU Director Sports & Business Stefan Kuerten said: "We are very pleased to be able to continue the successful partnership that we have built up with the organizers of the Amstel Gold Race. This cooperation strengthens the status of the EBU as a major player in the competitive field of summer sports in general, and of cycling in particular.”

Jan de Jong, CEO of the Dutch Public Broadcaster NOS, said: “Noblesse oblige, as the world’s number one cycling country, a pro-cycling classic is a must for the Netherlands. The Amstel Gold Race has been the showpiece of the Dutch cycling community for more than 50 years. Not for nothing did the spectacular Amstel Gold track host the Road World Championship several times. Since the first edition NOS has been Host Broadcaster, and we are very happy that can we show ourselves in this role at the ‘tête de la course’ again over the next few years.”
