Members endorse tech workplan for 2013-2014
17 June 2013
The annual workplan that defines the EBU's objectives and deliverables in the technical domain was endorsed last Friday in Munich at the Technical Assembly. It had been approved by the Technical Committee (TC) earlier in the week.
The workplan was presented to the assembled delegates by TC chair Arild Hellgren (NRK) and the EBU's Technology & Innovation Director Lieven Vermaele. They explained that the strategic priorities are based on a changing media landscape, which in turn demands that the EBU and its Members should change. The Strategic Programmes (SPs) set out in the workplan cover a wide range of key areas, in both the production and delivery domains.
Collaboration in action
The workplan is developed by the TC and the staff of the Technology & Innovation Department. The chairs, vice-chairs and coordinators of the Strategic Programmes and Project Groups are responsible for drafting their own sections. Input from the Members is gathered via the Technical Liaison Officers.
In addition to the workplan itself, which goes into considerable detail on each SP and their respective Project Groups (PGs), a summary document was also created. It is accompanied by a review that looks back at the activities of the last year, with these two short documents together providing a concise overview.
